Head coach of 14 Cobras, Lead of 14 AYA

Joe has been coaching volleyball for 23 years and began playing before that. He started as an assistant coach at Hartwick College in the fall of 1999. He graduated from college and immediately found a job teaching and began coaching at the high school level. After three seasons as a JV coach and one season as a varsity assistant, Joe was hired to take over the Walter Panas High School volleyball program. In his 14 year tenure the program won eight league titles, four sectional championships, and four times finished in the top four teams in NYS, including back to back NYS championships in 2016 & 2017. Joe was also named Section I Coach of the Year three times in his tenure at Walter Panas.
Joe began coaching at Downstate Juniors in 2007. He has coached in both the Aspire and National programs. His national level teams have won two GEVA regional championships, four bids to the AAU national tournament, and several large travel tournaments including the Mizuno Boston Volleyball Festival in 2018 & 2019. During the 2021 season his 15 National team won the Tri-State Volleyball Championship and also earned a bid to the USAV Girls Junior Nationals.

Joe grew up in Dutchess County, NY and currently resides in LaGrange with his wife Ashley and four children. Recently returning to Dutchess County to coach, Joe just finished his second full season coaching the Lourdes varsity volleyball program. In addition, he is the club director for Downstate-North. This season Joe will be coaching the 13 Cobras and 17 Vipers national teams and will be the lead instructor for the Aspire Youth Academy at Downstate-North . Joe has a passion for volleyball youth development and continues to pursue avenues to help develop youth volleyball in our area.
